Story
Hi & thank you for taking the time to visit this page.
During 2012 I will be taking a few steps into the unknown & challenging myself. Along the way I plan on taking a few others with me.
What is my challenge?
My challenge started back in 2006 when i started to run which lead me to my first real City 2 Surf event and half Marathon and eventually to completing my first Marathon in Sydney in 2011. Along the road to gaining fitness and health, i have become a personal trainer and been there with a few friends as they too have completed their first steps into health, fitness and in some cases running.
2012 has seen an inspiring group gather and support myself and each other as dreams become realities. Battles have been won and in some cases battles are still being fought but as a group we have helped each other.
As a personal trainer, I am thank full to you all, it is your strength that helps me to get up & chase my dreams. So what is my dream this year? To take on one of the top 5 marathons in the world…. The New York Marathon and my first ever overseas trip.
2012 so far - Myself & Team MTBF have achieved so far?
- January/February saw my first half marathon training distances for the year with a couple of my great training buddies. Allison, Jools & Aisling
- The Australian Running Festival - Jools, Kim & Dale completed the Canberra half & then helped me out at the end of the full marathon, with some damaged hamstrings.
- The Sunday long training run group - hmm Windsor & back, doughnut runs (metaphor only) & getting lost how much fun, plus a few more training excursions yet to come.
- The SMH half marathon for Allison, Dale & Jools. This I had to pull out from with injury to the hamstring so this will be my 2013 dream. The one that got away!!
- Team Furness - completing the Sutherland 2 surf. Personal Bests achieved.
- The MTBF team at the City 2 Surf this year.
- The Sydney Running Festival Marathon team, Half Marathon team & Body & Soul Teams. - September 16
- The Pink Triathlon - October 6
- The Relay for Life - Raising funds for Cancer I am also passionate about. - Just before i fly out!!!
- The 12 Week Challenges, the hard work. This has all helped in myself and others achieving their dreams & in the process helped a great cause.
- The Cities Marathon M7 team. A relay team and myself achieving a marathon PB and Jools & Allison becoming MARATHON RUNNERS.
By the time I'm taking part in the New York Marathon 2012, this event will become my 5th Marathon for 2012. A feat in itself. My plan is to make the New York Marathon a PB Marathon for myself and share the event and experiences with you all.
Why the Heart Foundation?
As a child I remember all too well my father suffering not one but many a heart attack and going to Westmead Hospital in my school formal dress to show my dad while he lay in the ICU awaiting a triple by-pass. Only a few years later after him helping babysit his 3 beautiful gran-daughters one night (I will never forget coming home from TAFE & seeing him there on my rocking chair) I was getting dressed to go & have my cuppa tea with dad when the phone call came - his heart had just stopped. Blacktown hospital was amazing & very supportive but there was little they could do. We all got to say our goodbyes. This all happened when my middle daughter Aisling was about to be 3. (TEN Years ago this year). The funeral being the day after her 3rd birthday. The City 2 Surf this year marks the week this happened ten years ago.
Why should you help the Heart Foundation?

As a charity, the Heart Foundation relies on donations to continue its lifesaving research and health education work
If anything I can do or team MTBF can do to help save someone's life or provide resources that may save someone's life then consider it done. This is my reason. Please help me make a difference by clicking on Donate Now to make a secure online donation.
